Colmore in Conversation, Episode 3: Navigating UK Politics
For our third episode of Colmore in Conversation, we're introducing you to our latest recruit among our planners, Imran! Many of you will already know him, he's now in his third month at Colmore Partners, but we thought this was a good chance for you to learn more about him, and more importantly, to showcase some different perspectives from within the team.

This episode, opinions are in full supply. Given recent events, we’ve released slightly more political content than usual. If you want a supplement to the podcast, Richard recently wrote an article titled “Burnham-Manchesterism,” sharing his mixed feelings of optimism and skepticism on the topic.
At the time of recording, the outcome of the race for our new Prime Minister was still officially unknown, though let’s be honest, it was always going to be Andy Burnham, the King of the North. Since then, he has come into power, and the conversation still holds up well, covering his predicted policies, his stance on taxes and economic growth, and what you should consider in light of the changes ahead. Political shifts like this often bring changes to government spending, tax rates, and regulation, all of which can feed directly into your financial planning.
Beyond Burnham, we also look at the broader global landscape, giving our orange friend his obligatory 15 seconds, along with our take on what these shifts mean for markets.
We know clients have mixed, understandably confused feelings about the current political climate. We may have grown used to frequent change, but this shouldn’t be considered normal, and it’s entirely reasonable to be concerned about what it means for your financial future.
As we watch Burnham’s rise, it’s worth understanding how his policies might affect your finances. By staying informed and proactive, we can navigate this uncertainty together and keep your decisions aligned with your long-term goals.
If any of this has you concerned, or you’d like to talk through your planning, we’re here whenever you need us.
